Our Right Care Initiative statewide collaborative founded the San Diego University of Best Practices with support from the National Institutes of Health, Heart, Lung & Blood Institute (NHLBI) between 2009 and 2012. The work continues under the name Be There San Diego University of Best Practices, under the leadership of our founding chairman, cardiologist Anthony DeMaria of UCSD. The Right Care San Diego University of Best Practices started in 2011 and continues operating monthly Best Practices to this day under the banner of Be There San Diego.
As part of the Be there San Diego campaign to create a heart attack and stroke-free zone, the team adopted a Simplified Hypertension Treatment Approach.
