Overview
This lecture provides an overview of suggested tools, tactics and topics to be used with clinicians and patients to improve blood pressure control rates across a health-system population of patients with a diagnosis of hypertension.

Speaker Bios:
Dr. Giambrone received her doctor of pharmacy training at the University of California, San Francisco.
She has had an extensive career in managed care, including as Director of Performance Improvement
and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Pharmacy Risk for the MemorialCare Medical
Foundation. She has a long-standing interest in the management of cardiovascular conditions, including
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) resulting from her professional and personal experience. Dr. Giambrone
has been an active volunteer for the Right Care Initiative since 2008, and is now a member of the Right
Care team.


Scott Flinn, MD, is Regional Medical Director, Provider Performance, Blue Shield of California, where
he focuses on improving the value of care delivered to Blue Shield members. Dr. Flinn is also a
volunteer leader of CDC's National Hypertension Control Roundtable. Previously, Dr. Flinn was the Chief
Medical Officer at Arch Health Partners medical group, and served 22 years in the US Navy. Highlights
included two tours with the Navy SEALs as an Undersea Medical Officer; Medical Director for Primary
Care at Naval Hospital San Diego; and Force Surgeon for Naval Surface Forces in charge of the health
care for all Navy ships worldwide. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, Dr. Flinn is
a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the American College of Physician
Executives, becoming a Certified Physician Executive in 2013. He is board certified in Family Practice
with a CAQ in Sports Medicine. Dr. Flinn is a member of the Right Care Technical Expert Group; Co-Chair,
Right Care University of Best Practices; and Co-Founder of the Bay Area Silicon Valley University
of Best Practices. He formerly co-chaired the Right Care Initiative's 1st University of Best of Practices in
San Diego.
